I’m Evan Jacobson, a New York City saxophonist blending jazz, R&B, pop, and dance music to create unforgettable performances tailored to any song or occasion. With years of recording and gigging experience, I’m here to set the tone for your event or recording. Whether you’re looking for jazz during your ceremony, cocktail hour entertainment, or a high-energy jam alongside your DJ, I’ve got you covered. I’m always open to special requests—no idea is too unique.
MY STORY
I grew up in a musical household - both of my parents play instruments and love music. My mom introduced me to jazz early on, and I immediately thought the saxophone was the coolest instrument. So, when we had to pick a band instrument in 4th grade, I knew I wanted to play the sax. I fell in love with it right away and have stuck with it ever since.
I moved to New York City in 2018 and immersed myself in the flourishing music scene. Inspired by the saxophone greats of the mid-20th century, and by the rhythms dance music, I set out to bring my lifelong love of jazz to a modern audience. Whether I’m touring with my band, Stolen Gin, or playing with by jazz-house project, evan+will, I’m striving to combine the language of jazz with the grooves and rhythms of dance music.
One of my proudest career moments was going on a national headlining tour with my band, Stolen Gin.
In the band, I bring my background in jazz, and contribute rhythmic, energetic melodies that get the audience moving. I adjust my style depending on the venue and the energy of the crowd.
For different events, I have a variety of styles I like to lean into. For an intimate wedding or cocktail hour, I’ll keep things smooth and cozy, playing songs people know and love. For larger gigs—especially clubs or high-energy events—I like to play with a more expressive tone that gets people dancing. I love playing jazz and 70s R&B for more intimate gatherings, and I enjoy playing over house, disco, funk, and rock for bigger, more lively events. I always aim to personalize each performance, whether it’s taking song requests or mixing in deeper cuts based on what I think the audience will enjoy.
New York City has a vibrant culture and music scene that continues to shape my sound as I evolve as a musician. Whether I’m playing with Stolen Gin or performing solo, I’m always looking for new ways to blend jazz, dance music, and everything in between to create a fresh, exciting experience for my audience.
